Qualification Content

The qualification consists of two compulsory Level 4 units:

Unit 1 – Understanding the Principles and Practices of Internally Assuring the Quality of Assessment

Develop an in-depth understanding of the principles underpinning effective Internal Quality Assurance, including planning, sampling, standardisation, monitoring assessment practice, maintaining and improving assessment quality, information management and relevant legal and professional requirements.

Unit 2 – Internally Assure the Quality of Assessment

Apply IQA principles in a real assessment environment. Learners will plan and undertake Internal Quality Assurance activity, monitor assessment practice and decisions, provide feedback to assessors and demonstrate how quality and consistency are maintained within the assessment process.

The official ITEC qualification comprises these two compulsory units.

How is the course delivered?

This programme is delivered using a blended learning approach, combining:

Live Tutor-Led Online Training Days
Interactive training covering both the theory and practical application of Internal Quality Assurance.

Guided Independent Study
Learners complete supporting study and portfolio work between and following the live training sessions.

Practical IQA Activity
As this is a competency-based qualification, learners must demonstrate Internal Quality Assurance activity within a real assessment environment.

Tutor & Portfolio Support
Learners receive guidance throughout the programme to support completion of their assessment evidence and IQA portfolio.

Important: As the qualification assesses practical Internal Quality Assurance competence, learners must have access to an appropriate assessment environment and assessors/learners in order to generate the required evidence.

Exact assessor and learner access requirements will be confirmed with applicants prior to enrolment.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should have appropriate experience within education, training and assessment and must be in a position to undertake genuine Internal Quality Assurance activity.

Holding an assessor qualification such as the ITEC Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement or equivalent is strongly recommended.
